30-Minute EMDR Intensive Consultation

This brief consultation provides an opportunity for us to connect, discuss what you are hoping to work on, and determine whether an EMDR Intensive may be helpful for you at this time. We will go over what to expect, how intensives differ from weekly therapy, and what preparation and support look like before and after the experience. You are welcome to bring any questions or concerns so that you can decide whether moving forward feels right for you. The consultation does not include EMDR treatment. It is intended to help determine whether an EMDR Intensive is an appropriate next step and to support you in making an informed decision. If we determine that an intensive is not the best fit, I am happy to provide referral options. This consultation does not establish an ongoing therapy relationship. This can be done in-person or via telehealth on a secure platform.

EMDR Intensives (Clarkston) - In Person

When weekly therapy is not enough — or not realistic for your schedule

EMDR Intensives offer focused, extended therapy sessions designed to help you make meaningful progress in a shorter period of time. Intensives can be helpful when you are seeking deeper relief, when you want to work on something specific without waiting weeks or months, or when your schedule does not allow for traditional weekly therapy.

EMDR is not used only for trauma — it can also be effective for anxiety, relationship triggers, self-esteem wounds, and other distressing experiences that feel “stuck” in your nervous system.

Each EMDR Intensive is tailored to your goals, needs, and readiness. We will slow down when needed, move at a pace that feels safe, and create structure and support around the work so you are not processing alone.

Why Intensives?

EMDR Intensives allow more focused healing time than a standard 50–60 minute session. By working in longer blocks, we spend less time warming up and closing down each session, which means more time engaging in meaningful therapeutic work.

People often choose EMDR Intensives when:

  • they want relief sooner rather than later

  • they prefer a more immersive format

  • they are already in therapy and want deeper trauma-focused work

  • they have limited availability for weekly appointments

  • they are at a transition point and need support now

Many clients describe feeling like they were able to move through issues that previously felt “stuck” or overwhelming.

What We Know About Intensive EMDR

Emerging research suggests that intensive trauma-focused treatment can be well-tolerated and may reduce symptoms more quickly than weekly therapy for some clients. For many people, working intensively also decreases dropout risk and improves continuity of treatment.

While results vary for every person, the intensive format may reduce the amount of time spent on:

  • weekly check-ins

  • processing current stressors unrelated to treatment goals

  • re-grounding at the end of each short session

This allows more time for focused healing work.
